2008: Hard Year for Malaysian?

Year 2008 is probably a hard year for Malaysian. Toll price hike and increasing of oil price will lead our economy become sour with rise of inflation. Everything will be more expensive in 2008 from teh tarik to car spare part.

Unsustainable economy will lead private company tighten their company expenditure. Less bonus and salary for their staff will be significant impact for their cost of living.

Everybody will be afraid to spend more money; probably will cut their budget for entertainment, beauty, cars, housing and holiday budget. It will be a huge impact for entertainment, hotel and servicing industry. This is time bomb in Malaysia. A lot of demonstration series already started in KL. Malaysian governments must this issue seriously.

Secondary income is alternative way to solve this issue. Being part time blogger is alternative way to earn income from internet.

Less pay, bonuses for employees next year

PETALING JAYA: Employees may not enjoy the same salary increase and bonuses they received this year come 2008.

This was revealed in the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) Salary and Fringe Benefits Survey for Executives and Non-Executives 2007 here Thursday.

Speaking during a conference, MEF president Datuk Azman Shah said this was due to various uncertainties in the global market.

“Increasing oil prices and costs, coupled with business uncertainties in the global market, are making a huge impact.

“Our findings have forecast that both salary increase and bonuses for executives and non-executives may not match that of 2007,” said Azman.

The survey was carried out among 233 companies nationwide who are members of the MEF.

Azman said on average, employees were looking at a 5.74% (non-executive) and 5.69% (executive) salary increase next year compared to 6.25% and 5.77% respectively this year.

“Even the average forecast bonus in 2008 for non-executives and executives is lower by 0.26 months and 0.31 months respectively compared to 2007,” he said.

Stephen Chow’s “Yangtze River 7″ Movie

Hong Kong comic star and director Stephen Chow’s new movie “Yangtze River 7″ has wrapped up shooting and released a series of promotional posters. Since it began shooting in August, the science fiction movie has received much attention as this time Chow plays opposite a kid who is an alien from outer space.

The China Film Group Corporation, which is in charge of the movie’s promotion, announced that the movie will be brought to the big screen in January 2008, as part of the nation’s New Years line up. The latest news from Stephen Chow’s new comedy “YANGTZE RIVER 7” is that it will be released in February 2008, just in time for Chinese Newyear.

The sci-fi oriented story concerns Chow’s trademark down-on-his-luck character taking care of an alien who has disguised himself to look like a little boy. Stephen has claimed that even though this movie will contain special effects and drama, the emphasis will remain on crazy stunts as ever.

No idea if this will match the utter brilliance of Chow’s “Shaolin Soccer” or “Kung Fu Hustle” but I’m sure it will be fun finding out, especially now that the rumors seem to be true about the film containing a scene in which Stephen Chow is fighting a 7 foot schoolgirl in uniform!

Actor Hussein Abu Hassan Dies

Veteran actor and director Hussein Abu Hassan, who was noted for his “bad guy” character in Malay movies, died of renal failure and other complications at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital today. He was 70.

The Melaka-born actor had been suffering from kidney ailments for the past seven years besides having lung and heart problems.

Hussein is survived by his wife, Mahyon Ismail, three children and four grandchildren. His children are scriptwriter Dilla, R&B singer Fairuz and actor Faizal.

Faizal told Bernama that family members rushed to the hospital after being informed that the veteran actor was in critical condition at 5.30am.

“When we arrived at HKL at 6.30am, doctors were still performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on him after his heart stopped at 5.30am,” he said.

The body was brought to the family home in Taman Gombak Setia here before being laid to rest at the Taman Ibu Kota Muslim cemetery in Setapak after Zuhur prayers.
