Actor Hussein Abu Hassan Dies
Veteran actor and director Hussein Abu Hassan, who was noted for his “bad guy” character in Malay movies, died of renal failure and other complications at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital today. He was 70.
The Melaka-born actor had been suffering from kidney ailments for the past seven years besides having lung and heart problems.
Hussein is survived by his wife, Mahyon Ismail, three children and four grandchildren. His children are scriptwriter Dilla, R&B singer Fairuz and actor Faizal.
Faizal told Bernama that family members rushed to the hospital after being informed that the veteran actor was in critical condition at 5.30am.
“When we arrived at HKL at 6.30am, doctors were still performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on him after his heart stopped at 5.30am,” he said.
The body was brought to the family home in Taman Gombak Setia here before being laid to rest at the Taman Ibu Kota Muslim cemetery in Setapak after Zuhur prayers.

Allahyarham meninggalkan seorang balu, seniwati Mahyon Ismail, 65, tiga orang anak Dilla (penulis skrip), 44, Fairuz (penyanyi), 42 dan Faizal (pelakon), 40 dan empat cucu hasil perkahwinan ketiga-tiga anak mereka - Natrah (Ayang), 24, Marlissa (12) dan Syarifudin (11) dan Fazryn, dua tahun.
